Mission 45- Explore the ‘Panorama Route’ in Mpumalanga and Experience a Night Safari in the Kruger National Park

"Books, magazines, television and even some people have said that you need to do Kruger in a week or more but I’m going to prove that one can experience a taste of Kruger in a just a few hours! "

Browsing through a menu can be quite deviating at times with that word ‘Starters’ staring at you so cunningly... so sneakily, slowly drawing you in to read the list of halloumi, grilled mushrooms, soups and even the most filling of them all- focaccia! Why do you think these little plates of food are always the nicest tasting items? Why do you think focaccia is always so big? I think I might have unfolded something here...

I’m convinced restaurants have joined the league of conspiracy theories with ‘Starters’ being featured on their menus influencing the innocent food lovers to fill their tummies up with delicacy’s and yummy little food thingy’s so that when the main course arrives and its smaller than usual, there’s no complaints. It’s like a smaller meat justification or otherwise known as SMJ!!! In some restaurants their starters are so large that you feel like you’ve had a full meal and then you still have to finish an entire expensive meal you ordered earlier. Restaurants are super clever, they rely on your empty stomachs to make decisions and make you think you need more food than you actually do, plus they make extra money on another half a meal that just consists of something simple.

I’m still trying to figure out how some restaurants charge half a main meals price for a few items such as mushrooms that cost a fraction of the cost and then they charge a fortune for a small piece of fillet that’s justified because of the starters. Its food madness I tell you! Restaurants should replace starters with ‘Appetizers’ which literally consists of a few bites and make the ‘Starters’ part of the ‘Sides’. I know the light bulb has just turned on... you’re starting to realise, “Yes! I can never finish my main meal”. Now you know... I believe ‘Starters’ are place holders in our stomachs!

All this coming from a person who ordered the garlic round bread and ate so much that she didn’t finish her beef fillet only to forget to put the ‘Doggy Bag’ in the fridge when she got home. Such a loss! RIP yummy beef fillet!

It’s time for another mission and this one involves allot of travelling! Whoop whoop!

Mission 45- Explore the ‘Panorama Route’ in Mpumalanga and Experience a Night Safari in the Kruger National Park

The ‘Panorama Route’ is situated in Mpumalanga and includes the breathtaking views of The Blyde River Canyon Reserve which is one of the biggest green canyons in the world. The views along the escarpment are remarkable, any photographers dream! I’m going to visit all the top view places on the ‘Panorama Route’ such as ‘God’s Window’ and the world renowned ‘Three Rondawels’ which are situated in the canyon itself. Along the way I will locate a few unknown spots or treasures not found on a map! I’m going to become Little MMI... Canyon Jane! I will have to battle high terrains, rain and perhaps allot of walking, this is going to take strength, water and a super umbrella gadget thingy.

To top my day I will end it off travelling to the famous Kruger National Park where I will embark on a Night Safari and hopefully be able to spot some of the Big 5. Books, magazines, television and even some people have said that you need to do Kruger in a week or more but I’m going to prove that one can experience a taste of Kruger in a just a few hours! I’m putting myself in the middle of the bush with predators that would love to make a meal out of me! I will be entering Kruger at the ‘Numbi’ gate which is known for their Rhino and unfortunately Rhino poaching so who knows; I may be fortunate to spot a Rhino amongst the branches or long stuff. I heard at this time of the year the grass is extremely high and difficult to spot animals so I may need binoculars and some camouflaging gear so I don’t become a target.

How does one become a lion whisperer exactly?

Until Next Time
